Proposals (which were dealt with in the order given below)
The Morrach
PROPOSAL
Proposed by St Medans:
1 It is proposed that the Morrach be played on a Sunday. Defeated: 5/1
2. It is proposed that the best 3 scores are counted, dropping the 4th. Carried: 4/2
3. Alternatively could we make it a scratch Texas scramble with the 4 players who qualify through the monthly medals. Defeated: 5/1
Proposed by Wigtownshire County:
It is proposed that the Morrach returns to the start of the season as previously 1st weekend in May. Defeated: 5/1
IT IS NOW CONFIRMED THAT THE 2019 MORRACH TROPHY WILL CONTINUE TO BE TEAMS OF 4 BUT ONLY THE THREE BEST SCORES WILL COUNT.
The League
Proposed by Newton Stewart:
1. The League should start one week later in May. Carried: 6/0
2. The last group in the League should go out no later than 5.45pm Discussed and reiterated that if pairs are available to go out early they should. Common sense should be used. Pairs do not need to go out in team order, if they are ready they should go.
Proposed by Stranraer:
- It is proposed that Ladies League matches take place every 3rd Monday instead of each Monday.
Defeated: 4/2
- It is proposed that the maximum amount of strokes received by opposition in League matches should be 18 strokes. Defeated: 5/1
THE ONLY CHANGE FOR 2019 IS THAT THE LEAGUE MATCHES WILL START ONE WEEK LATER ON MONDAY 20TH MAY.
AOCB
A discussion took place about the revised Championship format and whether it should revert to 36 holes of Strokeplay but the consensus was that the new format is working well in terms of encouraging more entries and should therefore be left as is.
It was noted that in 2018 WLGA did no raffles or football cards to raise funds – it was agreed that Glenda Dewar would produce football cards for each club to sell if they could and that Caroline Smith will arrange a hamper to sell raffle tickets for at each of the three individual competitions.
Date of next meeting (AGM) was set as 22nd October 2019, again in Wigtownshire County Golf Club House at 7pm.
Marjorie Vance thanked everyone for their attendance and positive participation and closed the meeting at 8.10pm.
